anyone do E-fans on a obs??

10 guage wire for all main power connections, 40amp continuously rated bosch relay with a self resetting circuit breaker rated at 50amps or ****-fuse of the same. Solder and shrink tube wherever possible. Terminals to match wire gauge and amperage. Self resetting breaker is preferred as I treat it as a critical item. Being as how the fan can swoop up 30 amps that gives you a 25% buffer for start-up on the relay so as not to burn out the contacts easily.

Oh take you temp probe and fit it in the radiator fins where it touches the fluid tubes preferably nearest the radiator inlet.

reading this post this morning i went to the junk yrd to look
for a door latch didn't find one so i walked by the fords

and looked at a 2000 linclon towncar it had the fan in it.

took it out 15 min tested it
it works cost $ 11.00. now this fan has 2 speeds the
blue wire goes to a round type coil thats mounted on the
shroud it's low speed then the orange wire is high speed.

so how would i wire this up i have to load the pics up and

the bosh relays who sell them and whats the l e d for in the
wiring diagram?

What onebadsuv put in his post. And I wired the fan up with with headlights on
AC on high my voltage gauge didn't move i'm pumped to do this mod.

Love my ad244 alt.

The led is like a diagnostic light or power on light. As he has it wired it if a relay has applied power to the fan the light will also illuminate. so if the light illuminated the fan should be on and if the fan was not functioning you would now that it is not a power delivery issue.


You can get good relays from electronics shops or audio shops just get high amp one and good fusing and wiring.

if you want to go nuts, I wired in two temp sensors that automatically trigger low & high speed independently....unfortunately you're looking @ 4 relays and a custom pipe split between your radiator hose for that (to hold the sensors)...but it's fully automatic!!

Most people on here only wire in the high speed and it's MUCH cheaper that way.

"Technically" you should also splice the fan into your AC, so when you turn on the AC the fan turns on. The benefit is that when you start your truck on a hot day, cold air will blow...the down side is that on the highway, your fan will also be on drawing a lot of electricity when it's not needed.

If you don't splice into the AC to auto turn on the fan, you're going to blow hot air through your vents until fresh air passes through the front of your rig.

I'm swamped at work, but when I have some free time I'll put together a full writeup...but plan on spending $200+ just for the electronics to run it (again, this truck is my science experiment, not necessarily practical) a fully automated 2speed setup.

As a side note, the computer on your truck has an "AUX Fan" pin and it can be activated. I'm not sure what temp that pin is set to activate a fan, but it's possible to do it that way as well...again, only runs one speed.

Yeah! I would want to use the daul speed with the like the factory does.
Looks like I need more money. That diagram is not for 2 speed fans?
