Anyone else do this in the winter?

I tried but the area where I’d put it in is sealed off. Completely. And the fans are blocking the back area as well
It’s not sealed off, just remove the plastic cover over the top of the radiator. There’s about 8 plastic clips and it comes off. Pull the center of the clips up with a flat screwdriver and they release so you can remove them. Your truck has a hundred of those holding plastic parts on.

If your t-stat is working correctly the only thing this will do us help it to Warm up faster. It could cause it to over heat. I said could.. i live in Canada where it can get damn cold and never used that even when I had a diesel. And it came with a cover.
As a note the new trucks come with an automatic louver system.
The only place I've seen this widely used it Wabush, Labrador. There we left the trucks run 24 hours a day. -50..-60 LOL

I roast in my Yukon at 20 degrees. The cops would stop me anyway to take me to a psychiatric facility because they would have no clue what it was. I would be afraid they would never release me.

Any little bit helps. I've done the same thing over the years on various vehicles. As some have stated, it's not necessary.......but an engine is much like our bodies. It uses more fuel to stay warm with all the computer controls. So, keeping it warmer will actually help conserve fuel, and the perk of getting heat sooner is a big plus.

I've been in North Dakota for over a week for work.......it's been cold AF here last week. My poor rental RAM 1500 with the pentastar V6 would've benefited from some cardboard (actually thought about doing it, but decided to just never shut it off all day). Poor fella.......he tries so hard to be a real truck. LOL
