I have a 96 2-Door Yukon and am wanting to take the back seats out since I don't have the need to carry people in my truck and it's my weekend toy. I'm wondering if anyone here has taken out the back seats of their vehicle and if it's a pain?

I've folded the seats down for storage, but I don't like the way they aren't sitting flush down. I'm thinking about possibly building a platform once taking the back seats out, to give me a level back area.

Anyone ever do this?

A buddy did it on his old K5, and fabbed up a panel behind the front seats so that stuff wouldn't slide up between the buckets....

Yes, I removed the head rests, but it still sits up at a slight angle. It's not a huge deal, but if I don't care to have the seats back there anyways, I thought I'd take them out. Also might incorporate a sub enclosure box in the extension I build because my current set up takes up too much space.

I gutted my interior while I'm rebuilding it... but I'm pretty sure the rear seat just has 4 bolts holding it in.

I've been working on trying to unbolt my back seats for a week now. There are two torx bolts (one on each side) that won't budge. I'd tried taking a cheater bar and two heavy impact drivers to it, and my bits keep breaking. The other day I tried blowtorching it (it appears one bolt on each seat comes through the bottom of the truck right near the front of the back wheel well) and still no luck. I've been spraying them with PB Blaster the last two days in hoping it will eventually break them free. Such a freaking headache.

I had to take some Torx bolts out once, they didn't budge... so I used brand new drill bits with some cutting oil, drilled them out.

If you have an after market exhaust check to make sure they didn't weld a hanger on them. The parts hoe I got they did that when I was taking the back seats out to get reskined

You need impact bits to get them out. The bolts come from the factory with some tar patches on them so they don't ever loosen up.
