The installer is definitely being lazy.
The 530T units' connections must be made at the motor wires, so that means getting into the doors. And if you want one-touch up/down at each window switch, then you have to wire up at each door. This means using thicker ga wire, such as 12 or 10ga, for the 2 motor wires going to each door, and having to go thru the plastic molex plug at each door.
Is it hard? I don't think so. Tedious and time consuming? Yeah, if you want the job done right. It is also very time consuming if you are one of those shops that are used to 45 min alarm/remote start installs on our GMT800's.
The 530T uses resistance sensing to stop the window, either at the close or open position. It's no more harmful than you holding the switch, for an extra second, at full open/close just to make sure that your window is actually fully open/closed. I bet the 530T ceases (at full close/open) before the average human finger does.
Also, in my experience, if your windows need any upkeep, such as new motors, regulators, channel guides cleaned and lubed with silicone spray or white lithium grease, the 530T only seem to magnify those borderline exisiting issues. I usually do all that before messing with the resistance setting dipswitches on the 530T to get the desired outcome.
I know this is generalizing, but in my old area (southern cali), there seemed to be an abundance of shops that hated doing all of the extra's, such as window/sunroof modules, aux output channels (like to turn on headlamps, stereos, etc).
The trick is to find a shop, or person, such as JK, that is actually passionate about their installs, instead of a shop just looking for the easy $$$.
