Quick question, friend of mine just got a silverado 01, but has no remote. How do you know what FC number is the correct one? How would i find out?

go to Ebay and type in keyless remote 2001 silverado. It will bring up a bunch of them. Just pick the best priced one for you and the one for the 2001 Silvy should work. Should only be one option.
