That's called "detonation". Its very bad for engines.
Will it destroy the engine permanently or if i put higher octane it'll stop the damage caused by 91 octane

95 Octane fuel? I can find 93 Octane around me, and 91 everywhere, but 95 isn't readily available as far as I know.

And when I was in NorCal these last 2 weeks and had a 2015 Yukon XL rented, I was suprised that the high octane at the local stations was 89 with some additive...

I live in Saudi here there two fuels available 91 and 95 but turns out 91 here isn't 91 but lower because car manual recommend 91 for 5.3 engines but mines slaps AKA detonation. So now I out 95

"Low Octane Tunes" that many programmers have will make the appropriate timing adjustments to lessen the likelihood of detonation with lower grade fuels.....of course at the sacrifice of power....but will help an engine "live longer" w sub par fuel

Have used 87 in my Tahoe for 4 years. No issues at all. Wonder how many miles of such egregious abuse this thing will take before my extended warranty has to buy me a new engine?

No my friend Iraq is the leading country in the worse octan rates I'm sure of that
yes i know exactly what yer talking about i was deployed there for 18 months and i saw what the fuel looked like the kids were selling on the side of the road it looked my piss when i was really dehydrated

see when saddam was in power in iraq everything went into exporting crude oil he literally put almost no resources into refining so gas stations were few and far between and the quality of fuel was very very low
and gas stations had lines down the block and around the corner

always use what the manual says if it says use 87 use 87
it says use super unleaded use super
the octane rating is not the quality of the fuel its the flash point higher octane higher flashpoint
most newer motors have higher compression ratios wich create more heat
so when you put 87 in a vehicle with a high compression ratio you get detonation because 87 has a lower flashpoint its igniting to soon
but most newer engines nowadays will compesate for this thoughg
