Just wondering if I'm missing a setting somewhere... On my '09 Denali when I set the hvac to auto @ 70°, when it is cold out, it would wait until the engine temp was high enough to blow warm air. This is my expected operation. My '24 with the same settings just blows cold air from engine start.

Anyone else experiencing this?

While I do not have a '09, I have an '05 and while the fan will work when it is cold outside (30-60F) the fan does not pick up speed until the engine reaches 100F. This is pretty typical of many vehicles. While I have not really followed what my '24 does, I will pay more attention to it and see how it behaves.

Yes, I feel like my '23 will initially blow cold air (def not the 73° air I usually have it set for).

Doesn't matter. If my truck is sitting in the sun on a cold day, and I autostart it and let it warm up, I can still get what's-definitely-not-73°-air blowing when I push-start the engine and drive (sometimes for the first 10 minutes or so).

It doesn't pre-heat the seats and run the defrost on high speed?

Sure it does. That's not the issue being discussed, though.

but it is very related, when it is cold everything is cold, the coolant, the engine block, the VENTS, (everything) when you autostart and have the heater going it should start to slowly warm up including the VENTS. Versus just going out and getting in it (no autostart) and driving away.
theoretically using autostart should result in a quicker warm up once you have entered in the vehicle.
how quickly it warms up is going to vary for everyone dependent upon outside temp, elevation, etc.
it also depends upon how you drive,,,, i.e. a few wot pulls will warm it much quicker than putzing along like granny.

My baby goes in the garage, no remote start for me. The point of this thread is that my '09 operation is what I expect. Wait till engine temp is high enough to blow warm air. Not just blow cold air from the jump.

Right. And mine can be pre-warmed with remote start, and yet if I don't crank the temp way up on the "auto" setting, it can blow what I'm sure isn't the temperature of air I'm calling for, and when I know that the cabin temp isn't already above what is being called for (and it's blowing cold air to bring the temp down or something)...

In your specific case, maybe are systems are designed to have the fan blowing in order to keep the heating mechanism from burning up or something, and so it's going to blow air until things get up-to-temp. But I agree that you don't want it blowing air that's cold when you're looking to warm up.
