Okay, so I changed the front shocks this past weekend (rear and compressor last weekend). Followed the Avalanche DIY someone posted on a previous thread about changing the shocks all around with air ride (Awesome DIY BTW). My suspension works like new on the highway. Smooth sailing. But I am getting some "clunking" noise at low speed when I go over a pot hole or even a crack in the driveway where there may be a 2" drop from one surface to the other. It is almost like something is loose and bottoming out before the shock kicks in. I was careful to make sure the top plate, spring, and shock were lined up prior to reinstalling and the two top plate bolts were tight prior to relieving spring compression. I'm not sure what else it can be. Ball joints are in good shape so I don't think that is it either. Please help! Any thoughts would be greatly appreciated!!!

Side note...I'm also getting a little clunking noise when I turn the wheel sharp, like when parking in tight places. Visually the stabilizer bar link ends and stabilizer bar bushings are in good shape. Could these still be the culprit?

I have heard of a few issues with the sway bar end links not being tight enough and making noise, I would start there and also check the mounting hardware for the struts, just to be sure.

Just changed the bar link ends. Didn't alleviate the problem but simple enough to do so glad I did it. What is the best way to check the motor mounts? Thinking about taking off the shocks, compressing the spring to make sure everything is aligned correctly. Any other thoughts? Really interested in broken motor mounts symptoms.

Hope this may help someone...I couldn't stand the clunking noise so I took the shocks off and compressed the spring in order to inspect the assembly. There is a small spacer, about three washers thick, that is hollowed a bit on one side that rides on the beveled post of the shock. That spacer is small enough to slide to the side of the post if you are simply trying to remove one shock and replace the shock while keeping the rest of the assembly together. I would recommend taking the entire assembly apart to inspect the pieces. I ended up replacing this spacer along with the bump stop and added the isolator/lower seat spring (in case these ever decide to rub and make noise). Time for a wiser man to learn from my mistakes.
