Ok so heres the scoop. I pulled the front diff out. heres what i got. The person before me plugged a whole in the bottom. So thats broken but i think either weldable or jb. But he race in he drivers side was spinning in housing. both clips were broken and the diff was pretty loose. Say a lot of backlash.
gears look good. Diff looks good.
Now what. Im nervous about half assing that race with punches or something. Its an awd tahoe. I want to keep it and dont need lazy problems.

Called the dealer and i can get a new set of cases for $511.+tax. Then i need all the bearings and seals.and ill deffinatly have to redo the pinion. So figure another 200 or better in parts. Plus i dont think im ready to do the install my self so theres another $400
Or i found locally a 2002 denaly with a 108k that has the same front end. $650. Ill try to talk him down with cash. Seams alittle high. But he said he will put a 6 month warrenty on parts.
What do you think? im leaning towards the working one.

Just a follow up. Took my front cases and diff o a shop that does them and he said the races arent usuall super tight. Hes going to weld up the hole, redo all the bearings seals. Reset it up for me. Should be great. At least this way i know for sure what i got.

I ordered up the vette servo today too.

what do you run in the front diff? do you spend he extra $on RP or just run mobil and change it more often?
