I like this, now I want to add HIDS to my rear, since I purchased new FOG lights, I still have my old ones. Just use the projectors with mounting brackets.

Will HIDS in the rear blow anything when turned on? I have HIDS in my FOGS and Headlights.

No, not if you use the relay method, but I might upgrade the 20amp circuit breaker to a 30amp version. Even though it may be overkill to put a breaker on the AUX that is fused at 30amp, the price of that monster fuse is more than the 30amp circuit breaker, so if a problem occurs, I'd rather have the breaker. Your just HID happy! :)

I just run plugs into the cig lighter. All my 2-way radio stuff is under 20amp... except the linear amp(boot), that is wired to the batt.

Well I jumped on the bandwagon and bought HIDs for the truck, price and vision out of them WELL WORTH IT, plus with DDMS Lifetime warranty its just STUPID not too. Well I bought headlight covers and that killed my vision, so now I needed to see at night, so HIDS on my foglights. Now I can see again at night!

I like HIDS on the rear of the truck for back u light use and ******* drivers, I CRUISE at 55mph on the highways in the middle lane. You know how many people flash their lights, ride my ass, honk thier horn, give the finger or wave their hand at me when they pass me? I get them with the air horn lol. But rear HIDS would be a killer combo in that sense. But When I back up I need more vision for the camera! So I can install HIDS in the rear with a toggle switch, no problem with fuses?

Lack of power

1) too much for the volt source aka to many things running off the one wire
2) too much on the system

Recommends

re-wire it

ff40 is correct, to much draw at the same time.

A big 3 upgrade would help, or you could still use a relay. To do that, run a wire from the reverse light back to the front to the relay to pin #86, the same as the switch. then the new lights are not on the same circuit as the reverse lights.

... So I can install HIDS in the rear with a toggle switch, no problem with fuses?

Yes, I think so with no worries. As long as you pull from the Aux post under the hood which is by default fused at 30amp. I would really recommend the 30amp cicuit breaker though. I picked the 30amp breaker instead of a 20amp because HIDs only run about 5-6 amps each when running, but the initial warm up period sucks up a little over 10 amps each. Enough to trip a 20amp fuse or breaker. At least mine do. I would use a relay with hids, don't wire it directly to the switch. Currents are high enough at warm up to melt shit if there is a problem. Maybe even use #10 wire on the run to the back of the truck. I've watched 40amps melt #14 wire. Safety first eh.

Sure, no worries.

From what I understand, you already have tapped into the reverse circuit at the back of your truck. And you already have the relay installed. Perfect!

So, extend the wire that your using to tap into the reverse lights at the back of the truck, and run that along the frame to the front of the truck, under the hood.
You already have a wire running from the dash switch to the relay terminal #86, so just splice the wire you just ran, into terminal #86 as well.

Terminal #86 is the input trigger for the relay. You can have as many inputs as you want. In this case you want a toggle switch - done, and the reverse lights - done. you can have the parking lights as a trigger, high beams, wipers, anything that you can think of, just keep adding wires to terminal #86 as required.

ok geek can i ask you , can i do it from under the dash ? and if so do you happen to know what wires they are ,i think it ould be easier than running another wire from front to back again lolololo, besides i havent seen a wiring diagram , so any and all info helps

Here ya go, a reverse circuit wiring diagram!

No, there isn't a place in the cab that you could pull a reverse light trigger from, but according to the digram, you can find a light green wire from the transmission to possibly pull a trigger from. Don't feed those new backup lights from the light green wire that you may find.. I would use a relay for that for sure. At least the tranny is closer to the front of the truck...

Damn, I've pulled so much out of this forum that it's about time that I put back in. Hehe, Electricity, I can do, mechanical stuff, not so much.
