So, we live in the city. We often have to parallel park, plus our 2004 tahoe has tinted windows. I was wondering what were the options for backup cameras, sensors, or other.

Since we live in city, I am cautious about adding anything that could look like a GPS or other so that some imbecile would break in to steal.

First, are there any OEM products that can be installed? No sure if backup sensors were even available in 2004 but it seems some Eskys have them.

Second, I saw some low profile cameras that mount in body or bumper (almost flush). seemed like good option since it is less noticeable.

Third, are there any options that combine both sensors and camera?

Last, as anyone ever had problems with theft of a backup camera/screens?

Get yourself a rear view mirror with a built in screen for a back up camera, would look pretty stock when you are parked!

yeah. i thought of that, except i have the nice onstar mirror with compass. I thought about adding it as second mirror above or below, but i still have problem of attracting unnecessary attention if someone thinks it is gps or other. I guess the rear view mirrors with gps and back up camera are starting to become popular.

My thought is to hide the screen in the storage console, right of driver. But then you need to flip up each time you back up.

I did see this mirror but dismissed since the one I saw around 700. This one is better, but still not cheap. Has anyone used this product?

Also, I have a passenger air bag indicator. Would like to keep ip possible.

I installed a nav radio from a hummer,
E\The PAC VCI-GM2 Video Camera Navigational Radio Interface for GM Navigation Radio Touch Screen device
and a camera from amazon.

Works great for me. I would not want to be without it.

Thanks Capt. Do you have any pictures of this setup or install? I thought about doing a GM nav screen. I would assume these are not big theft items since they are Factory setups.

Yup. I've installed probably 12 or so of them. Never had a problem with them and they work great. No, you would not be able to retain the air bag indicators though.

Where do you install the camera on the tahoe? Did you buy this unit from M&R?

I am now also looking at replacing the head unit. Advantage is gaining a GPS, but it seems like a good chunk of money, unless i can get the GM gps for cheap.
