true, at 3x the space as well...a sealed box will sound better any day of the week...a ported box will be louder, and sound better than a bandpass.

my whole system is all sealed
2.3cubic feet per chamber, 2 subs per chamber 3 chambers per side. all equal.
im acutally building a new project
it involves 4 15 inch ported and a 2 door lol

sounds like the blazer power audio just built for spring break nationals..
the box was big enough to live in. we used to joke with our boy that when his girl kicked him out he would live in the box. If i ever get over there i'll try to snap some pics.
alot of this "which box" crap depends on the car. in an SUV, build what you want, regardless it'll be loud. same with any hatchback. when you start gettin into cars with trunks, bandpass is the best way to go. I'd be willing to bet JK has a bandpass in his CTS since them caddys are well insulated and wouldnt be as loud any other way. iirc, he actually does have a bandpass.
in the hoe, if you want loud, build ported, if you want pretty, build a bandpass. the dB difference wouldnt be very high. if you want to keep your trunk space, build sealed. regardless, dont use a prefab. they suck.

please don't take this the wrong way, but it's really not about which car.
It's how do you want it to sound.
Want SQ and a good driver system, sealed.
Want peaky, and don't mind the room, bandpass
want large output within a certain freq. range, ported.
Also, depends on power and the woofers. Some just don't have the suspension for ported applications.

^^ I gotta agree with you on this. I also think the type of music one listens should be a determining factor as to which type of box to choose.

I have to disagree. I've built ported boxes that would play anything, and the woofer makes a difference, yes, but so does building. its all experience with building. We've built boxes for mmats p3.0's, both ported and bandpassed (note: these speakers are not recommended for a bandpass *mmats says this*) and the bandpass is easily 2-3 dB's louder, and clearer cleaner bass.
vehicle type matters as well.. how can you honestly tell me that if you put a ported box in a truck vs a bandpass with a cut thru, that the ported box will be louder. especially in newer cars that are meant to keep the noise out of the cabin. granted, this is an SUV, so it would make no difference, but still.
imho, with this app, go ported,tuned to 40-45 hertz and it would be the best bet. i'd be willing to bet that he listens to mostly rap, and wants it to be as loud as possible.

ported boxes won't play anything, like below tuning frequency.
Tune at 33hz, play a 20hz test tone and see what happens.
It is in the build. I'm not arguing build. I am stating what a consumer wants as far as sound, and space requirements.
Bandpass Mmats is that woofer sealed on the front side?
but those are not identical vehicles. One is basic truck, one is cut thru.

I have 3 12jlw3s in a tiny ass sealed wedge behind the 3rd row
You can sit in the front seat with 7 people in the truck and still not even see a single speaker.....
and now only does it slam everything from tay dizm to trick daddy and blow hair everywhere and bounce change out of the cupholder.... when it needs too....
it plays every thing from panic at the disco.. to old school guns and roses.. you cant beat the tight response of a seal box .. AND YOU DEFINITELY cant beat the size.
