---------- Post added at 08:38 PM ---------- Previous post was at 06:40 PM ----------

Its been about 2 hours since I last tested the truck.when I turned it off I checked and it was 12.45 v now 2 hours later its 12.12v.is that a normal drop in that time.I have not started it yet.I want to see what it reads jn the Am.......if a battery is messed up could it not hold a charge and drain itself.

Tested my battery 2 hours after the truck was off and it went from 12.45 to 12.12.then tested it 6 hours after that and it went to 12flat.so in a total of 8 hours it went from12.45 to 12v.ia that normal.I will also check in the morning and see what it is.

After killing an Optima I finally located the draw for mine..

Vanity mirror light on drivers side was on. Sun dry rotted the hinge and kept it on. Currently I have a travel sized box of q tips holding it closed. No dead batteries since.

i put a ammeter on and it was reading 0.015...i also jumper my truck last night and drove it to charge my battery...i parked it and took both battery cables off and tested just the battery and it was reading 12.70v when disconnected.i left it undone and rechecked it 5 hours later and it went to 12.36 then rechecked in the morning and it went to 12.30.is that normal.my alternator makes some loud squeals sometime.could there be a short in there.and would a short show up on the ammeter when tested a parasitic draw.

Not a bigge really right now as long as it does not keep on dropping.

get the alt load tested and ensure you have the correct belt size on. tho if you have a hot terminal it sounds like damaged diodes in the alt or corrosion inside the cables. Also make sure your various ground point on the body are good. There are a bunch on the fender well behind the battery.

I have not replaced my battery yet but I went to start the truck after a few days of no driving and it only shows 2.50 volts on the meter. So I decided to do a parasitic drain test with the battery volts low and I got .35 draw.so I pulled fuses and it dropped down to .05 when I pulled the tcase #2 fuse. Since my battery was so low would this test count. And when I did the test when my battery are charged right after I turn the truck off I get nothing.even after a day or so if I show a good battery I have no drain.could the drain come and go that's why some charged will last a few days and other will go hours...what could cause the tcase fuse to draw amps when I never use 4 wheel drive.

Either you shift motor is shorting to ground internally or the control module relays are shorting out. But it is the 4wd system, that is your issue. If auto 4wd you should have some code illuminating the service 4wd light about it if the controller is goofed.

I have no codes..if I take the fuse out will that affect driving if I don't put it in 4 wheel drive.and is there a way to test those parts you mentioned.
