How about that Flowmaster 44? It just sounds like a mean SOB man....even with dynamat under the truck I don't think I could take that much noise!

The muffler is your biggest concern - it's the most restrictive part. If you just want to free up a little power, replace the muffler. The stock piping is good enough to support TONS of power. If you wanna drop the extra loot on a full system, go ahead...but you don't need to. You probably won't see any benefits from a catback that you can't get with just the muffler.

Jenna, when you say Corsa>Borla>Magnaflow>Gibson>Flowmaster, are you referring to your preference, sound, performance...?

I want a flowmaster 50 series, but I don't like being at the bottom of the list lol.

So Jenna Bear, are you saying that just a muffler of the ones you listed would be more than sufficient, or a catback system of those? Also, which of the 5 would be the most mellow tone of them? I love my denali because it has lots of power but it doesn't sound like a NASCAR!!

Some of these companies only sell catback systems. Honestly, in going from a Magnaflow to a Corsa, there is quite a difference in the two. You get what you pay for that is for sure. There is no drone and is very mellow until you get into the throttle.

There is no disadvantage to using the stock piping and just replacing the muffler.

I too have Magnaflow cats, but really it is only because I have a fully modified system from the heads back. The factory Y is plenty to support my blower with 10psi. I don't suggest folks spend their $$$ on cats, they flow better than most performance cars out on the market.

The only mufflers (with the exception of buying a one off from someone) that Corsa sells are the DB series. All of their systems come as a complete catback.

In our experience, the Flowmasters don't allow as much performance due to their chambered construction. A complete "flow through" muffler will give you the best performance. If you are wanting a very throaty sound, then yes, I suggest the Flowmaster. Really, it is all about the sound that you want, as the HP is rather negligible.

Dr. Pepper and Wendy's.

I agree. We need to have an exhaust sound bite sticky on this site. Forum members could post up videos or sound bytes of different exhaust setups to help others choose.

I am part of svtperformance.com (I used to own a cobra) and the exhaust thread was a huge hit. I'd love to see it hear as I cannot find many exhaust vids on youtube.
