Carbyte also disables the DFM= cylinder deactivation so the engine is in v8 most of the time. Makes it sound better when running a louder exhaust.

BacDoc,

Thank you and appreciate the Intel on the exhaust/CarByte. As you mentioned, I'm inclined to do the muffler vice the cat back system. Good to hear CarBYTE is a "plug and go" system...definitely don't want to get into "tinkering" with any engine mods.

I’d say go with muffler. Borla makes really good mufflers. I have the pro xs and sounds really good. Not too loud but you know it’s there. You can have a conversation and my kids sleep in the Yukon. And it’s way cheaper. If it’s purely sound you’re going for id def just get a muffler. They run less than $200.

I ordered Carbyte off Amazon and hope it works as advertised. Reading the reviews it looks like a lot of the stellar 5 star reviews are from free product testers. The “verified purchase” reviews are just ok with some reporting that it doesn’t work or at the worst it causes problems.

I would be happy if it just gets rid of the auto stop feature. That is one of those features that nobody likes, doesn’t save any fuel and doesn’t make sense for longevity of the components. Every new car/truck that I have rented over last couple years has this auto stop. There has to be a reason and the repeated “emissions” or “mileage regulations” is not logical and I highly doubt there is any evidence of reduced emissions other than the fact that when engine is off there’s no carbon emissions. Same logic is if the car has no occupants it’s not going to have fatalities.

I ordered one the other day, waiting on delivery. So like you mentioned, I hope that it works (as advertised).

I’d you’re getting the Carbyte “just” for the auto stop kill feature, then consider getting the AutoStop Eliminator wiring harness instead.

My neighbor has a 2025 AT4 and he just purchased one of the AutoStop Eliminators because there is not a current combination DFM/Auto Stop bypass solution for the 2025 models. So this along with driving in L9 most of the time will be his primary mode of operation. He is still waiting on the device, but will hopefully have it installed soon.
