You don't need any of the high end stuff, unless you're on the track imo. I put Centric rotors and Akebono pads on all 4 corners, and I think I was OTD for ~$450. Truck brakes beautifully now.

I agree. Don't buy the high dollar stuff unless you run on the track. I got the kit below from Ebay ($279 shipped) and am very happy with it. The rotors look awesome and it seems to stop better than before. I would not hesitate to buy these again. I had 75K miles on the stock parts before the swap 3 weeks ago.

Just FYI, it doesn't have to be high dollar to be high performance and look decent. You can get extremely high quality cross drilled and slotted rotors with ceramic pads all the way around SHIPPED to you through R1Concepts for about $3-350.

Right now there is a sale going on with them for two more days, click the link in my signature and use promo code P90 and get an additional 15% off during check out.

I just put on brand new R1 concepts slotted rotors and ceramic pads on the Tahoe about 3 weeks ago. They worked fine for 3 weeks and just today I'm getting loud squealing. Called R1 customer service this afternoon but they did not get back to me yet. Not saying it's necessarily the rotors but I'll try and keep the situation updated.

Sorry to hear you are having issues, but this is why it is better to order through a site vendor, I have the ability to help on issues.

That being said, I have never really heard of the R1's making any noises at all. What kind of squealing? Is it all the time? Just coming to a stop, etc. Explain a little further and maybe I can help narrow down the cause for you.

Just FYI, if you used a link I posted on the site then you were "Suppose" to be buying from me. SO, that being said, if you did that and have the email invoice they sent you I will take care of anything you need from them on this, for you. For your convenience.

I didn't even think to order from a vendor on the site. It never crossed my mind. I ordered directly from R1's website and do have the email invoices. The brakes are making a squealing noise when I am cruising at speeds higher than 25 mph and apply the brakes. The sound is frequent and does not go away. At slow speeds the brakes do not make the noise. It's too bad that I'm having issues because I've heard really good things about R1. That being said I am not 100% certain that it is the rotors that are to blame. The shop that did the install however is more adamant that the rotors are the problem. Luckily I live in the Los Angeles area and might just have to bite the bullet and drive out to R1 in La Habra and have them look at my truck. Unfortunately La Habra is about an hour away.

I would have to blame something with the install. Did they use brake pad quiet lube when they installed them. Did they clean the rotors before install. Did you order new caliper hardware to make sure that the clips in the calipers were fresh with your new stuff?

I would definitely have them checked, but I highly doubt it is the rotors, I just don't see it. The pads MAYBE, if they didn't add quiet lube, or your caliper hardware was reused.

Yeah like I said the install place said they did the install by the book. I know R1 has a great reputation and hopefully it's an easy fix. I'll take it by the shop tomorrow and have them look at it again. I'll try to keep my situation updated.
