My girlfriend has her mind set on the NNBS Tahoe and I am trying to help her decide on what year, options etc. Unfortunately, I don't know what they changed from each year to the next on the NNBS but I feel like you guys here know these trucks inside and out. I did some searching on here, but wasn't able to find what I was looking for.

So what are the years to look at or to avoid? Options you would recommend or not? Is there a resource that lists the changes from one year to the next?

Thanks for the help guys :)

'09 brought chrome to the LTZ line. Hitch close out. Side blind zone alert. Heated/cooled seats. 6 speed transmission, which IS the best! Just avoid anything that is chrome clad on the wheels. Junk.

5 and a half years later... We ended up holding off on getting her a new car for a while, but picked up a black 2009 Tahoe LT 2wd 5.3 flex fuel for a song in June. Really nice and much improved over my 2003 Tahoe Z71 in terms of ride quality and cabin noise. Granted, I have a blower, cam and catless headers which aren't known to be quiet.

One of the AFM lifters collapsed within the first two months, which cost $2,500 to repair (I would have fixed it myself, but we just wanted to get it done now). The driver's side motor mount was broken, and I was quoted $800 to repair it, so I bought the mount for $90 and fixed in myself with a floor jack. It also has the dreaded dash cracks around the airbag and over the driver's side gauge hump. Also pretty common, the paint on all of the door handles is peeling to some degree - about $65 to buy a new handle and have a shop paint it. Threw some decent Kicker speakers in the front doors while I was replacing the driver's side door handle with a newly painted one. They sound great even off the stock headunit.

After Wheatley tuned it, she's also getting 15mpg around town and up to 22mpg on the highway. It has 3.08 rear gears, which help out a ton.

I'm looking to pick up a high mile 2011 or 2010 in the next 6 months as a DD. My 2003 Tahoe has proved to be unreliable and gets terrible gas mileage, could be related to the fact that very little of the Tahoe has remained stock.

Thanks for the advice about the NNBS Tahoes

What kind of MPG were you getting before the tune? I am thinking of getting my 07 escalade tuned but wasn't sure if it was worth it.

I picked up about 1-1.5 mpg in the city and highway from the tune. But the drivability is much improved, as well as low end and mid range power. And the 6 speed shifts much more predictably than before, it doesn't feel like it's searching for the right gear anymore.

Traded an 07 5.3L LTZ 4sp 4x4 for a 07 6.2L AWD 6sp Denali. About the same price range. I would suggest atleast go test drive a 6.2L, press all the way down on that gas pedal and bet you change your mind. Just my thoughts..
