And, even if you have a need to program a control module using the Tech 2, you still do not need to install the supplied software. Programming is achieved through a dongle, as @Fless stated, to connect the Tech 2 to a PC USB port. However, connecting to TechLine Connect, the source of programming data, is achieved directly through a web browser on the PC, such as Chrome, Edge, etc.There are specific USB dongles that will work to connect a Tech 2 to a PC, and a few posts on here list at least a few. Sometimes the Tech 2 needs to know which COM port the dongle is using.
To mirror what @Joseph Garcia notes, the online Techline, or whatever it is now, connection through the PC is generally not needed to troubleshoot. Typically needed only to program.
