My blower motor just up and stopped about a week ago, after some searching it seemed it was the resistor (plus my truck has the climate control in it) I took out the resistor and it seems to have gotten wet and shorted out and or corroded.I got a new one and installed it with no problem, drove my truck and everything seemed fine.On my way to work this am and all was fine, until it stopped again.(blower) After about 30 seconds it came back on for a minute or so then back off.Now it cycles and when it does cycle,I have no control over the speed,it's just full on high.I have a 2004 Z71 with climate control.....any insight would be much appreciated. Thanks

I can't speak for the Chevy's, but we have a 2000 Dodge cargo van that we use for delivery's at my restaurant. It was doing the exact same thing. Ended up being a shorted ignition switch.

Blower Speed resistor assembly

I'm on my 3rd blower speed control. I think the problem is that it is mounted in the duct of the air conditioner - as such it is subject to moisture which is causing the resistor to crack and open. Chevy's intent was probably to, cool the reisistors, but it seems to be the wrong place to me. On both of the previous assemblies that I pulled out, the resistors are de-laminating and crack (and shorted). Anythoughts about an alternate located for the resistor pack?

I had the same issue with mine. The new resistor is modified (new wiring) but water / moisture can easily leak through the sides of the heat sink. I sealed the sides of the heat sink to protect the circuit.

My first replacement shorted out due to water damage. My second replacement worked for a little bit, and then stayed on for some strange reason, and I have no control of it. My 3rd one seems to be holding pretty when I sealed it. I used a silicone rubber sealer.

My vehicle is a 2005 Yukon Denali XL.
