Well I just picked up a newer style Tahoe and it doesn't have bluetooth. OnStar has been expired for quite some time and I 'm looking for an alternative for bluetooth. It sounds like BlueStar is the way to go to use the factory speakers and the OnStar mic.

I've seen in the past where there has been a discount for group purchases.

I was wondering if anyone would be interested in buying one of these units? I'm assuming we would need a minimum of 10 people.

I've sent an email to Costartech to see if we can pursue the group buy. They responded saying this evening they would do a group buy but need a minimum of 10 people.

Please let me know if anyone is interested so I can start getting this order going!!!

I also started this thread at Gm-Trucks.com forum as well. Just trying to save anyone who is interested some $$$$:rocking:

Thanks,
Bill

Well I'll post up some questions instead of offering up suggestions what you should do. Will this be cheaper than getting a VCIM?

From their site, How would this compare to the VCIM?

as these are the things it does NOT do

13.Does the NAV screen display caller ID?
Caller ID capability is available, but not yet implemented in the BLUESTAR
firmware. I hope to release this along with Phone Book Access in a future
software release.

14.Will NAV voice commands still work?
No, NAV voice commands are disabled when the onstar module is removed.

15.Why can‟t I keep Onstar?
Due to the complex nature in which the BLUESTAR communicates with the
radio, it is not currently possible to have both devices on the data bus at the same time. There are several other issues including interfacing to the audio of the microphone and radio as well as sharing both the buttons and LED. The BLUESTAR product is recommended for owners who do not currently subscribe to onstar.

BlueFusion uses the Nav screen to display caller ID and it has NAV voice commands, voice dialing (if phone supports it), and does bluetooth audio...

QFT. I installed it in mine last week and it works flawlessly. Got it used for $50 on Amazon. Lucky, but there are deals out there!!

I would be interested in the Bluestar if it had AD2P streaming. Supposedly it will have future capability and comes with the 3.5mm headphone jack already prepped for just a software update, but I'm not convinced it will only need a programming update (Might need different hardware). So I'd rather not spend ~$300 for something that MIGHT work in the future.
