I thought it came with the rear bumper brackets, I was wrong. Im not 100% decided what Im going to do but I think Im going to cut the frame and reweld it this weekend. Your post answers my question about the steering extension. Yes Im using it and it feels fine but when I was installing it I thought "damn theres plenty of play here without this contraption".

I went ahead and put it in anyways.

Doing some painting here at work on it today, slow day. Definitely somethings gotta happen on the rear end though, I cant drive it without the bumper cause I dont live in a trailer park. It looks hideous. LOL

I've built my own rear bumper brakets before.
Best I can remember, you have to cut some frame off.
Then you move the bumper braket up one hole to where the lowest bumper bracket hole was aligned with the highest frame hole.
Then had to fabricate a peice for the top hole on the bumper bracket.

Or

Go to zoneoffroad.com and they have the correct rear bumper brackets for $100.
Still requires some frame trimming.

Thanks, I cant bring myself to pay that.

I have an idea I think may work. I just took some measurements and cut some thick 1.5" flat stock 8" long, 2 pieces. It looks like I can drill a hole through the frame above the bottom hole to use for the bottom bumper hole. Then use the stock to add the height I need for a new upper hole drilled in the bumper mount itself. Add a new hole to support the bracket in the frame, if that all makes sense. Im going to play with it after work today and get measurements. Ill add some pics if it works out it may help someone in the future.

Ive fabbed stuff way more complicated than this stupid bumper situation so Im about to pull some redneck tricks outta my hat. More to come LOL

Finally finished up with the bumper. I got it on by doing some cutting on the brackets on the bumper itself where it basically went back on the original spot but the cuts allowed it to slide up. No cost except u bought 4 new 1/2 bolts washers and lock nuts. Turned out pretty good I think.

Nice I've been rocking no bumper for at least a year lol. One day I'll slap my badass one on but have to modify it a bit... At least my plate is hidden from cameras I've tested that theory out aswell
