So I've been on this road trip all day. Still got about 300 miles left but I'm getting a nice little break in the passenger seat. On again off again all day I've been trying to think of a good way to describe the drone, just something to keep my mind busy. I think I finally got it! With the windows down it sounds like when you blow on the top of an empty glass Coke bottle. With the windows up it sounds like Chewbacca groaning at Han Solo. At highway speed it's particularly bad between 2000 and 2500 RPMs with any throttle

Well I haven't gotten around to doing anything about the drone yet but I do have some more interesting data. The slopes in the attachment were recorded using high end mics and test gear. Each color represents a different mic location inside the cabin. They were recorded while accelerating.

Any update on your exhaust? I know from experience that almost all mufflers will continue to get louder until about 3-4K miles. At least for me, it always took about that long to fully break in. Plus, as others have stated, shorter is louder. I've been thinking about doing something to mine since I'm stock right now. Since it's not really a performance boost from what I understand on these trucks, I'm just looking for nice outside sound a bit deeper than stock, and no drone inside. I had horrible drone in my previous trucks and I'm done with that. I also don't want to have to put together 4 different pieces to get the sound I want. I know, sounds picky. But hey, I'll keep it stock before I spend money on something that is just sound related.... :)
