2011 Yukon XL with 100k. Sometimes I get a sensation that feels like the tires are bouncing when in lower gears going slightly uphill. This does not happen always, but enough to be noticeable. When it happens it feels like bumps in the road but when I let off on the accelerator, the bumping ceases. The tires have been balanced and are smooth at higher speeds so I don't believe it is tire related. It would be helpful to know if this is engine related or transmission related before I take it to the shop. Has anyone experienced this problem? Thanks for any conversation.

Transmission shop told me this morning that this is a common problem known as "torque converter chatter." Usually occurs in older transmissions with worn discs. They suggested that I put an additive in the transmission oil which is designed to help with this problem - which I did. If the chatter does not stop or gets worse, the converter will ultimately need to be replaced :( ($700 - $800 estimate)

Thanks to all those who looked at my problem.

My previous Escalade with the 4L65 had this issue. I used DR Trans in it and it cleared right up. I got rid of it shortly afterward so I'd expect it to come back.

Ken, thanks for posting. I feel like I have this similar issue. It almost feels and sounds like my tires are out of balance at the 30-50 mph range. It started after I rotated my tires so I thought it they may be adjusting. Would it hurt to use the additive if I haven't confirmed I have the same issue?
