Feeling the same. I just configured a vehicle with the 3.0 duramax. I would just like to know final plans on how GM plans to handle this before jumping the gun. Seems like the 3.0 maybe a better situation than the one we're in with 6.2. Spent last night watching Youtube engine review videos. Anyone got any horror stories with the 3.0? Afraid to ask....
i ended up with a 2025 SLT Pickup built in Mexico with what looks to be the end of the SLT type trucks.. when i traded off my ecopoop.. i am not oil burner fan. but.. one turbo instead of two.. turbo has ball bearings, engine has 7 main bearings. there is a lot to like. my '24 yukon has the 5.3. half the mileage.

This advice is really stupid
I'd suggest finding a better word, I'm sure you didn't mean to call anyone stupid but perhaps just that the advice 'doesn't make sense'. Not sure about the rest of the world, but that word is generally avoided in the US unless absolutely necessary (generally not in civil dialogues) ...

@jfoj aligned with all your remarks on CAFE/OPEC stuff. Its somewhat ridiculous how 'better emissions' oftentimes means we burn more fuel as well (as we know the 70s/80s smog era engines became less fuel efficient actually but at least they didn't pollute as badly!). These DFM type enhancements seriously don't add value to the consumer.... hope GM hires a true pragmatist to head up the technology group and clear up this mess... Ford is probably having a field day now as they were the only ones dropping engines from wet oil pump belts, non-keyed crank sprockets!!

PS: 6.6L doesn't require premium fuel per the manual

And I'll out my frustration as well. I didn't know about DFM until after we bought our 24' suburban (guess I should have been a member here !!). I had assumed it just had the 4 cyl vs 8 cyl mode stuff that is annoying but is a “known devil”. Had I known about DFM, I think we would have figured out an alternate plan (to be honest I don't know what else it would have been. Ford has been doing some ridiculous things as well) and there way no way my wife was going to drive a 3/4 or 1 ton pickup or a mini-van.

Have a 2021 Yukon Denali, built 9/20 and my VIN does not come back as recalled in either the website or myGMC app.

Maybe they haven't got around to me yet or maybe this isn't every single 6.2.

Same for me. Mine was built in July of 2020. No recall for me, at least yet. I was assuming the wording by GM says "certain" 21-24's. So not all.

I have a brand-new 2025 6.2L Yukon XL and feel like a dummy for not getting diesel.

Now what? Switch preemptively to 0w-40? Take a big loss on trade?

Agree with others that it's frustrating feel like I'm driving a ticking time bomb.

Does anyone even understand the root cause? If they did, I would pay cash out of pocket for new lifters, stronger pushrods, or whatever the hell the (predominant???) manufacturing defect is.

I called my GMC Dealer this morning and they say they are not ready yet to perform the recall work. I did get the notification on the GMC app. I am waiting to talk to the Service Manger because they owe me a free oil change and I want to ask for a different oil than the 0W20. I am still under the drivetrain warranty and at my last visit asked for Mobil 1 but they said no.

Is there anyway to find out how many of these vehicles were sold? Google says GM does not provide sales figure’s publicly. While 800k is a lot, some perspective could be appreciated in a situation like this.

No, that's exactly what I meant, the advice not to warm up the engine, but to drive right away is exactly harmful, stupid advice. Which is actively advised for the environment, but it harms the engine

Recall notice says manufacturing defects in Connecting Rods and Crankshaft.

So, exactly what these defects are/were has not been publicly disclosed.
But, given there seem to be some 2021's not in the recall...GM must have some sort of an idea.
The definitely have Towanda and Sailo Manufactured Engines, and maybe some St Catherines.
They didn't seem to do the recall by place of engine manufacture.

My YukonXL was built in January 2022, engine was from 3rd week in November, and engine came from Towanda.
Vehicle has 35k miles on it now, has only had 0-20 from the dealer, and has had oil changes in the 4,5-6k range, except the first was around 2400.
My vehicle is in the recall; its on the app and the Infotainment System, I e-mailed my service advisor today to get clarification on when when they are ready to do the inspection. Have not heard back yet.
