Do you have the infamous "clunk" when turning or is this a preventative replacement of the ISS? If your steering wheel is loose you might want to consider changing the column bearing at the same time as the ISS!

Yup I have the clunk, checked the bearing it looks good, was gonna replace that too but GM no longer makes or sells it (number #10 on this diagram) only Dorman makes it which I'm not a huge fan of there's, but can get it locally if needed, I'll know more when the shop pulls it apart Friday

Nice work man! I have LED 164 and 42mm festoon bulbs I need to install for all the interior lights. That'll be a project this weekend among other things. I'm gonna try to get my own build thread updated tonight because I've been slacking on that, lol

Thanks, you'll love the LED's so nice and bright, I love how easy these door panels come off

Totally! They are probably the only thing GM designed on these trucks that make sense. I especially love the little white plastic hooks you can rest the door panels on against the metal chassis to allow access to disconnect the switch harnesses

I used to dread pulling the doors on my OBS Tahoe always broke a clip or two or door handle bezels, kinda why I didn't do this sooner had no clue it was this easy lol

No pic but got the ISS swapped out today no more annoying clunk, wheels as smooth as it was off the assembly line now.

How hard was it? I have a new OEM ISS and steering column bearing sitting on a shelf in my garage (were originally for my SS that I sold but never got around to installing). While the Esky hasn't developed the clunk yet I'm pondering just throwing the new ISS and bearing in now as a preventative action if it's not too much of a PITFA...
