In putting the new wheels on, he struggled a bit being able to lift the wheel into place. Told him he needs to figure out how to do it in case he needs to change a tire in the side of the road sometime.



He also had a little trouble torquing the lug nuts. Getting 140 lb-ft of torque when he only weighs 120 lbs was a challenge. Told him on the side of the road he can step on the lug wrench to get the lug nuts tight, but no way he’s standing on my torque wrench today.

We also tried to bleed the brakes since we would have the wheels off. I couldn’t get the RR or FL bleed nuts to break free so I decided to at least get the LR and FL lines bleed.

Soaked the bleed nuts with penetrating oil and will see if we can get them some other time. Didn’t want to run the risk of breaking one off and then having a bigger project on our hands today.

I am not so sure I like the NBS wheels on this truck. Maybe if they were cleaned up and either painted silver, but think the steel wheels it had on will look better once they are cleaned up and re-painted. Will have to see what he decides to do.

I like the nbs wheels. Gives it a more premium look IMO. Maybe you can strip clear coat off and polish them a bit. Maybe not worth the time of you can find a better set cheap. Get that new bed on it and she’ll be shaped up

Very well could. Like I said, they will need cleaned up. That being said, I have never really been in love with that design.

That’s next in the list. We can do that in the garage over the winter. Might as well let the one that’s on there now take the beating of another Iowa winter and then put the new one on in the spring.
