Hello all! great forum!

I'm looking to buy a tahoe and I found one that I like but not sure if its good mechanically.

its 2009 tahoe LT with leather seats.
-buying from a dealer (non chevy dealer) some local state dealer
-it has 55k on it
-Leather interior
-4WD
Asking $26,000

Problems found (i am not a mechanic so tried my best)

When I press the lock button all doors lock. when I press the unlock button all doors unlock except the driver side rear door. I have to unlock it by pulling the lock up. but it locks when I press the lock button. (easy fix or costly?)

when the car is running I hear some sound coming from the belts infront of the engine. the dealer comes with a rag full of water and drops water on it, sound goes away for few seconds but then comes back.

I see some what looks to be rust on the bottom side of the engine and its really dirty not sure if it was oil or what.

Do you guys think I can go to chevy service and ask one of the guys there to come with me 5 minutes drive to look at the car? $50 sounds good?

Also does this sound like a good deal car?

It's an okay price for an 09 LT.

One of your lock actuators seems to be busted which is pretty common on these trucks. But it's not cheap to fix so I'd get the fix included in the sale price.

Not sure what the belt issue is but a mechanic will be able to tell you with relative ease.

And yes some oxidation at the very bottom of the engine block is normal ... although a couple of pics of it would be helpful in ascertaining whether it's in a place that would or would not be cause for concern.

And yeah, spend a little time and money to get it professionally checked out.

And if you know someone at a GM dealer service dept. they can pull the full service history report ... this is probably the best way to know what any vehicle has been through.

Welcome to TYF.

Carfax is okay but what you really need is the GM service history report (not available to the public) ... it shows what was done to the vehicle every time it was brought to the dealer for service and all warranty work. A lot of this stuff doesn't get reported to Carfax.

Carfax I don't care for because yea most stuff doesn't get put in it so I would get them to get you the records. O and also if the precise owner was like me then there won't be any dealer service records so yea get what you can get and try to look in it very good

The rust issue is common up north so if it is just exterior rust it might not be an issue. 26k isn't too bad for an 09 with that mileage. I would definitely try to get all of that fixed before buying the vehicle. It's never good to buy a vehicle with a bunch of issues before you even get it... Welcome btw!
