I used that exact kit on my 08 Silverado and it worked great. I also like how that filter loads in, the way it bends helps. The evaporator was pretty clean just some leaves.

What type of cutter are you guys using to cut the slot in the housing? I've thought of using a Dremel with a cutoff wheel, a hot knife, or a Rotozip.

I have the cabin filter in my '02 Sub, and I love it. I change it once a year in the Fall when the rains start. It does an awesome job keeping the dust and pollen out. We have miles and miles of orange groves to drive through to get anywhere in the valley, and the pollen really bothers my wife. We use Fram filters with activated charcoal, and she doesn't even smell the oranges when she drives through them.

i dont think a rotozip will fit. they are pretty large, atleast the one i have is. I used a lighter and warmed up a razor blade and it cut right through it real easy. Gave me a nice clean cut too

dremel makes a huge mess.i tried that to start and it flung burnt plastic chunks all over and you have to go just right because too fast and it melts back together, too slow and it melts too much and gets all goopy

I used a Dremel with a small cutoff wheel. It’s too small really, the disk loaded up with hot plastic pretty quickly. I’m going to try the hot knife when I do theothertwin in a few days.

I used a Dremel with a right angle chuck and a small grinding wheel. For the areas that I could not get to with the Dremel, like making clean corner cuts, I heated up a utility knife blade and cut through it.

New GM ACDelco just arrived in the mail. Installed the first one in 2018 and a year later replaced it but could have gone longer. Well, here we are two years later and we'll see how the old one looks tomorrow.

Update: I bit the bullet and ordered the whole kit along with a k&n filter to see if it fit (if not I will just return it). I will let y’all know how the installation process goes and if I see any difference.

I cut mine out with a good quality utility knife. I just scored each side a few times until it went through.

I drilled a hole, then used a mini hand saw to make the cuts. Kinda like this one
