I'd be interested in what you think of the performance exhaust as an afterthought. Would you remove it or order it on the next new one?
Wouldn't order it again. My business partner bought a Denali 6.2 with stock exhaust at the same time as my At4 6.2 so I've had some seat time with both setups.

The perf exhaust is louder on startup and has a deeper rumble but pretty close to stock in most light throttle situations. On an acceleration romp it has a nice sound if you're into that - but its a little aggressive for this kind of vehicle. My biggest gripe has come when towing or under slight highway load --- at 1500-1700 rpms you get a drone in the cabin. You can force a downshift and it goes away ---but we do 600mi round trips with and without a trailer so its been noticeable.

We also have a 2500hd 6.0 with exhaust so its not like I'm opposed, but overall in this application I'd pass.

For the price of the performance exhaust, I’d say it’s a waste. Its essentially a Borla Touring system. If you’re familiar with Borla they categorize by these 3 stages, Touring, S Type and ATAK. Soft, Medium and Loud. I got the S Type and at times wish I’d gone with the ATAK. S Type is loud but now I want louder lol.

If it can drone on the highway and interrupt meditation I won't arrive in nirvana. The spirit advises that I pass for internal peace and harmony.

I still like my older Hoe she talks to me but just enough.

I've had excellent results over the years in getting dealerships to install options. It's all a matter of being willing to make it worthwhile for the dealer (pay him). A few years back, I bought an F-150, and had the dealer install a Roush supercharger package. Back before that, I wanted a 2+2 version of a Mazda RX7 Turbo. The dealer only had the Turbo in a 2 seater, but swapped out the rear seat, belts, and trim from a non-Turbo for me. In another case, I wanted leather seats, but dealer had cloth only, so I paid extra for him to swap upholstery.

Worked out perfectly, but you gotta be willing to pay. But that was then. In today's market, a dealer might or might not even be willing to consider such work.

I suspect that, as cash is still king, you can get anything you want...for a price.

In no case is the dealer able to edit the original window sticker, but they can, and often do, print an addendum to that sticker.

I've researched the Yukon AT4 for almost a year now, literally viewing every single YouTube video made to date. I'm pretty confident on the color and options I want (AT4 Plus Package, 6.2 v8), and I'm approximately a month away from making the purchase. Unfortunately, there aren't that many AT4's in my state so I have to look elsewhere in the country. I'm even willing to have it shipped to my state.

I did find one with the exact color and some of the options that I want, but I'm not willing to compromise or live without those options if I'm going to be paying for it (No FOMO for me).

My questions to you guys are:

1) Can dealerships add packages that weren't originally on the window sticker sheet?

2) If so, do dealerships typically charge more than the listed MSRP price or are they legally obligated only to charge the listed price of that option/package from the factory? ...technically it is "dealer installed", so can they set their own price?

3) Once those options are installed, do they legally have to print out another window sticker listing those options, or would those options just be listed on that dealer's separate service invoice? (...otherwise how can it be proved those options were ever installed)

Thanks for your responses and feedback...
Yes they can! You will have to pay for installation and surely reprogramming to the RPO code. No they dont have a price guide..No you wont get a new sticker. I used to add options from time to time..if harnesses are compatible your half way there..research and component swap. I added factory fog lights all th time..pretty straight forward. Depends on what you want . Just depends on how bad you want it..Anything can be done if your willing to pay for it. And No it cant be done for the factory sticker price.

Interesting discussion. Can dealers add factory options? For purely mechanical things, maybe. If it has any electronic component, probably not. Even on my 05 HD I've had to replace the door/mirror/window switch assembly twice. Each time the switch had to be programmed with a Tech II. Cost over $100 each time, just for the programming. And that's for a component original to the vehicle. The newer version of Tech II used today can only be even more complicated.

If anyone puts parts on your vehicle that weren't on the build specs for your VIN, it's unlikely they (or you) will be able to get it to work. It's bad enough that programming is required to replace a simple switch, much less worry about changing/adding non-original equipment and fooling your electronic control modules to accept changes the factory programming says shouldn't be there. And heaven forbid a problem down the road and the non-
original part fails and you try to get someone to figure out how to program a replacement part. I can hear it now. "Well, I downloaded the code GM provided for your VIN. If you've made changes, that's on you."

It's up to the customer, but I'd advise getting what you want to start with.

You have unrealistic expectations for any point in time, much less when vehicles are in short supply and dealers have willing buyers for everything they can get an allocation for.

You think there’s a law that will force them to modify a vehicle and restrict pricing? The type of research you’re doing via YouTube is apparently not giving you an understanding of what’s been going on in the vehicle market.
I think you're misreading what I'm asking... If I'm interested in buying an AT4 already on a dealer's lot, I'm asking opinions if it would be possible to add on additional equipment that wasn't originally offered. That's it. However, a lot of what some of you guys are saying about a dealer's limited capability to install certain options makes sense.

As for what's going on in the world in automotive, I've been subscribed to several consumer advocate websites for a year now... all of which address the state of the market, negotiation tactics, as well as other helpful things. I did say I've been looking into purchasing a vehicle for the past few months.

Best bet is to keep searching for one as closely equipped to the way you want it. The things the dealer can add on are relatively minor. I wound up taking an At4 with 6.2 and premium plus and a bunch of items I wouldn’t have ordered (performance exhaust for example) from an out of state dealer because it was the only one I could find by my 12/31 deadline. Unfortunately buyers don’t have much leverage right now and that looks to continue for a while.

The Premium Plus package and 6.2 V8 are mainly the options that I want, but with the Redwood metallic paint. There's one with some of the options that I want, but its 1700 miles away... I think what I'll end up doing at this point is just search for those two options and see which colors appeal to me. Just as long as it's not Summit White.
