Can I just cut my exhaust pipe off?

Never thought about the legal end of this question. I had a 2003 Z71 Silverado with a magnaflow dumped (sounded bad ass) and never had a problem. Got it inspected that way and everything. Guess that was because it was a pickup truck and not an SUV.

No offense to the guys who have them, but I hate exhaust tips. I'd rather not see my exhaust if possible, but from what it sounds like, that may not be an option.

LOL I've got an idea. I'll go cut the pipe off, then when my truck won't pass inspection this summer, I'll have to go to the wife and tell her "Honey, I didn't know that it wouldn't pass inspection. I guess I'll have to get a magnaflow and duals now".
