Can you guess what I'm doing this weekend?

My upcoming weekend in pictures........

A little backstory. (caution long read ahead :)) I bought my Escalade used, with no real detectable problems. Had a p0700 code cleared it and never had an issues. Two months later on a family trip at about 70mph on the highway it felt like it was slipping then with no warning it acted like it was in neutral. I pulled over, checked the codes and the only thing that came up was p0700 again. I cleared it with the intention of getting of the highway somewhere safe and boom. It was the worse sound I have ever heard short of hitting something. We managed to get to a rest area and we sat there until a tow truck came. Luckily for us everything was within a half mile of where we stopped. The did a pan drop flush and filter change but obviously the fatal damage had been done. So we got it home and a local shop swapped 55k mile transmission in with a new pump/bellhousing and torque converter. Fast forward two weeks after I get it back. From a light it feels like the emergency brake is on so I give it a little gas then boom again, just not as hard and it goes like normal. Then going up a small incline neutral condition again. I managed to get it in the driveway, pulled the pan and there was small metal fragments....... and black clutch grime.... Yay for me. So I've decided to replace everything inside of it myself. I'll post pictures of the breakdown. Wish me luck!

Good effin' luck with that!

I get the whole "gotta-do-it-yourself-if-you-want-it-done-right" thing. But, I don't believe I have the balls to tear into an automatic trans. If I had a spare one to build up, all the tools, a dedicated place to work, LOTS of time and an expert on speed dial, then maybe I'd do it.

A little duct tape and a bottle of Lucas Trans Fix and it should be good as new.

Seriously, that sucks dude. Look forward to you sharing your learning experience. I always wanted to see it done.

You'll all be apart of it start to finish. I've watched videos gotten all the manuals and I'm sure I can handle it. The clutch to clutch design is actually pretty simple but when one component goes the others don't fall to far behind. I'm gonna take a shit ton of pics while I do it so we will see how it all goes.

Yeah I'd never tear I to myself despite my attitude of sick of paying others to do crap for me. Haha. I'm definitely subbed to see how this goes as I'm curious about these transmissions as well!

Good luck, Im interested to see how it turns out for you. The deepest I've got into a trans is the filter. Have you done this before?
