I bought some replacement blackout bowties and had the front one custom painted. I would like to keep the gold/factory ones intact in case I ever decide to swap back out to factory. Is it possible to just pry them loose or do I have to drill them out?

I believe the front bow tie can be removed but requires that the front grill be removed in order to get to the clips holding it on. At least that is what I've read from a few other posts online and seen on YouTube.

Haven't found a clean way to remove the rear bow tie so far without drilling it...

Hopefully someone here has some better suggestions other than going the plasti-dip route.

For my front I was able to reach down in the opening around the hood latch and get behind the bow tie and push the clips in on one side then you can grab from the front and pop it out. No removing the grill.

The rear I took some fishing line and positioned it behind the bow tie...then while moving the line up and down at a decent pace pulled it along behind the bow tie and it comes off fairly easy... Then cleaned off the remaining double sided tape and stick on your new one.. Whole process for both took like 30 min.

Thanks a bunch! I'm going to give this a shot today.

MAKE SURE and put some masking tape around the outline of the bowtie to protect your paint!!

For the rear was this to remove the entire bow tie emblem or the gold insert while leaving the chrome outline and then replacing the insert?

Also, for the front was this the same, just removing the gold or the entire emblem?

TIA!

BMP - did you just push on those tabs with your fingers? I pushed pretty good and decided I better check to make sure because they weren't budging much. Thanks again.

hosse - good looking out.

That was removing the whole emblem both places. And focus on the clips on one side in front...push them in toward the center and out...may try pushing in on the emblem from the front for a sec as you push the clip ears in so it takes the pressure off them

Ok wait. My blackout bowties fit inside the chrome cutout. So I guess I should clarify. Any way to remove JUST the gold inserts without drilling them out?

Thanks again.

When removing the rear is there any sort of clips or posts to mark where the emblem goes? Or would it be a good idea to tape around the whole thing to ensure the new emblem gets put on level and in the same exact spot?

Sorry for all the questions. Just nervous about doing the rear emblem myself as I don't want to mess up the paint on a 2 month old truck.
