Well I liken it to when there is a hurricane coming in FL. In 48 hrs they can drain any and all local stations of gasoline with potential evacuees…. That Same station, you can pull right up to the pump and get diesel with no wait and no bags over the pumps…seen it more than once…

That is a short term event though. A long term shortage will affect everyone.

I didn’t know buying full size ICE SUV’s to worry about fuel prices was a thing.

That's a common misconception/sales tactic.
Perhaps. But it is my experience and i presume the majority of folks buying $70k SUV’s, too. While it certainly sucks, and especially now, is a real measurable increase….it’s a long ways off from being so high I would compromise and be shopping for a real ultra high MPG vehicle.

Well, the 5.3 is the most popular engine on GM suvs for a reason.

It’s the cheapest and gets along just fine. Comparing 6.2 is apples and oranges.
The 5.3 is the most popular engine in the GM suv because of economy therefore prices including the price of gas matter to most suv buyers. Are you still surprised?

100% correct. Living here 20 years now, never a shortage of diesel before, during, or after the hurricane. Gas is a nightmare when the storm comes. Several years ago 2 of my neighbors evacuated after being pumped up by the news. Neither made it out of Florida on gas. The second there is a possibility of it coming, I go get gas for generator and wifes car. Diesel is easy.

Because every station sells it and probably less than 2% of the passenger vehicle fleet use it. Ever see an Excavator or Semi parked at 7-11 fueling up?
YES the people paying 500$ as shown on the pump screen means they're
