If anyone decides to use paint, trust me when I say the paint is not as important as the adhesion promoter. I scrubbed and alcohol cleaned a tan center console I bought for my PPV. The black paint came out perfect... Until the first time I bumped it. Within a month it looked horrible and completely worn out.
Yesterday I pulled it, sanded as much of the black paint off as possible, put a couple of layers of adhesion promoter followed by a couple of layers of SEM. Let it dry overnight and it's hard as a rock. I tried scratching an area with a key and there was no scratching off of the paint. Hopefully it'll hold up better now.
