So a couple summers ago, my ac was working intermittently before not blowing cold completely. The AC is properly charged with the coolant but the AC will just blow air the same temp as the ambient temp. Hot air works fine. Is this a bad compressor, condenser, etc. Any help would be appreciated.

You have gauges? What readings are you getting high and low side?

Is your compressor kicking on at all?

Do you have a scan tool that can read error codes? Could be blend door related possibly.

Mine was still not blowing got cold air after having the system recharged. Repair shop says there is no signal being sent to the compressor or clutch to engage.
$325 later I’m being told I need to replace the ECM. Really? Replace the ECM because of the a/c?

No problem with the heating

First off, what is your ride? Kx22 have issues and and extended warranty to cover condenser replacement if still within their coverage limits.

Sounds like a clutch switch... thats like a $20 part. Unplug the harness to it and stick a paperclip in it and see if the clutch engages. I had this issue recently with my OBS

What year is your truck?

its a 2001 gmc yukon. blend door works properly its the first thing i checked. i can try the code reader to see if it says anything. when AC is on it seems like the compressor is trying to work but it doesnt change the temperature of the air at all, i just get whatever temp the air is that it pulls in from outside. Doesn't change if i have it recycle cabin air either.

Mine is the same problem. I have an 05 denali xl 6.0. AC was empty, I paper clipped it to get it going then charged it. It worked for a day. Now it's hot air. And I hear a hiss every 20 secs. It's like the compressor starts then shuts off.
I havent plugged it to dual gauges yet. Have not checked the doors actuators. I figured the clutch was stuck but I'm the magnet worked well with the wire/paperclip trick.

I was going to drive it with it on. But dont want to over charge it.
Will follow your post and see if it helps.

If it wss empty it has a leak. Did you fix the leak? Replace the accumulator and orifice tube?

Put gauges on it and report back.

so after installing the new clutch switch onto the compressor and it having no affect, it seems that the clutch plate isn't engaging regardless of wether AC is on or not. I used a paper clip on the wiring to see if that would engage it and nothing happened. Voltage to the relay for the AC is at 12V, i tested the voltage of the wires going into the clutch switch and read approx 2V. is that a problem?
