Hey all-

First time newbie poster here from KY.

2017 Yukon XLT with the 5.3L. Just clicked 101k on ‘er. I’d say for the past 15-20k or so there has been a noticeable “chirp” on startup. Lasts about 5-10 seconds then fades. Used to be only in cold starts now it seems almost every start. Also notice it when under acceleration. Possible belt issue or something else? Have a video of the sound but doesn’t look like I can post it here.

Thanks for any insight

You can post after going thru you tube and then post the link here.

Welcome to the forum from Oregon.

Take the belt off and see if the noise is still there. If not, inspect the belt for glaze/shiny spots and check the tensioner and idlers.

Yea, take the belt(s) off and then start and see if noise is gone. Take them off one at a time. Start after removing just one belt and see if that narrows it down. If you had a mechanic's stethoscope, you can pinpoint without removing belt. That noise you have has a bit of metallic rattle but the belt only noise can fool you. If making the noise, does it change when you turn a/c on?
