I just picked up a 2010 yukon pre owned. got home and noticed the inside smells of cigarettes. no cabin filter to change so bought 2 strong air fresheners and that didn't do much... when pulling the door rubber seals off there is that build up (sticky brownish stuff) which tells me someone was def a smoker plus there is a burn in the driver seat. the dealership offered a full detail but the truck was already detailed before purchase.... is it worth driving an hour away back to the dealer and leaving it for a day to see if they can get the smell out or should I do some DIY stuff?

Jason, was any of this included in the discussion during sale ? Detailing usually DOES NOT include what it will take to remove the smell, PERIOD. The only course for the burned seat cover is to replace it.
I would strongly suggest checking your state laws requirement for RIGHT TO RESENTION 72 HR CLAUSE. This means you have 72 hrs. to return the vehicle for FULL REFUND.
I'm sure there are other comparable vehicles in your price range that would suit you better. JMHO and good luck.

it was purchased at carmax. I test drove it and saw the small hole in the seat which was repaired with some sort of glue. the hole doesn't bother me, the wife isn't happy that the truck smells like smoke plus we have two kids. so the dealership did offer a full re detail service but I am pretty busy at work and this carmax is an hour away from me and really don't have the time to drop it off. I'll try what the poster above said to use and see what I can do, I also will remove all seals on doors and scrub all the tar off.

I was unaware the law had changed in August 2009 per below statement :
The only state that has a '3 day right to rescind' is California, however it must be purchased. I hope this helps.
