No, they can cite you via ordinance. Depends on where you live. Laws vary from city to city, county to county, and state to state. Some folks don't understand that.

If it is on your property, it is null and void. Edit Super made a good point, one I would not have thought of. Doesnt make sense but, he has a good point.

If it was parked on the street, you may have a problem.


I got a pulled over a while ago. It was for an unregistered vehicle. Thankfully I pulled into a FoodLion parking lot (I was going shopping) and the cop told me "if I had not pulled into the parking lot he could have had me towed but, sinse I was on private property, he would let me park it until it was resolved. Nice guy, even though he saw me on a public road, he gave me a chance. Like said, different states different laws, I guess.

Again, not true. A city can require that all vehicles parked within the city limits be operable and
Incensed.
