Cleaning my engine

what is the best way to go about that i have searched and found some things like simple green, just hose it , degreaser. Which one do you actually use i dont want to phunk ne thing up under there lol so which one to go with ? thanks..

yea basicly anthing thats a degreaser, i use purple power. just dont concentrate the water on the electricals, however ive totaly gone to town on the under hood before with no problems

One other thing, is ive been told by many, its better to keep it running while you do it. Theres a write up on it somewhere i think. (cant remember if its this forum or not) but basically as slocaddy stated, just dont go full power on the electricals. If anything happens, just let it dry and you'll be good.

I use a bucket of simple green or purple power diluted 3:1, and another bucket of clean water. I wiped it down with the cleaner then wipe it off with the clean water. I'm a chicken about spraying the engine bay with a hose.

Simple Green, a soft wheel brush, and a light spray down. Finish up with a rubber vinyl spray and you are good to go.

I do mine right before I remove my AEM filter for cleaning. Reminds me, I need to do that.

I just spray armor all (or tire shine) on everything (with the engine running), then wipe it down. It works great (and has for years). Plus it's good for the hoses and belts.

I leave mine on and use Engine Brite, then I hose it off and let it dry then I use Stoner Tire shine and Trim shine.

Another good trick is to spray it down with a bathroom tile cleaner (soap and tile) they are very inexpensive at a couple bucks a can and work great leaving the engine bay clean without leaving a slippery film that just collects more dust. I tend to use the Lysol brand (pink can) it will also leave a fresh scent that over time gets drawn into the cab.

Spray down with water when cool, spray with Simple Green, let sit for a few minutes, hose off, then drive until engine is at operating temperature.

Detail with your choice of plastic detailer. (I use Adam's Polishes Undercarriage Spray)

dang thanks for all the differnt styles and approaches so its good to do this stuff with the engine on ? why i thought it should be cool?
