Okay through experience ive become the EVAP master
if you need the locations of the parts in question
the vent valve solenoid is directly above the rear differential the old ones look like a tube going into a cylinder the new ones look have a tube going into rectangular box both smaller then your fist
the purge valve solenoid in all the way on top of the throttle body
first i recomend replacing the gas cap then both vent and purge valve solenoids those are the previous parts i just described dont bother replacing the vapor canister next to the fuel tank those are good for the life of the vehicle and rarely do they get contaminated unless you over fill your tank i mean really over fill it
and after you replace each of these parts and clear the code dont think yer in the clear cuz you havent seen a code for a couple weeks teh drive cycle for the evap system test to run can take along time you can look up what must occur during the drive cycle

Replaced the EVAP solenoid and bracket with the newer parts called for in the TSB. This is not the relocated filter up towards the trans, but the larger rounder unit. (My Yukon is an '03)

Then, I had another code (P0455 I think) which could be the gas cap, so replaced it while I was there. Cleared codes and all is well...so far.

I searched and couldn't find anything about a drive cycle for a P0446 code.
Is the drive cycle different for different codes?

Any info/links?

Thanks!

heres what i mean by drive cycle

The EVAP (Evaporative Emission Control System) monitor checks for fuel vapor leaks (including a loose or missing gas cap). As a rule, the EVAP monitor only runs when certain conditions have been met. If these conditions have not been met since the last time the monitor ran, or since the last time the battery was disconnected, or since the last time fault codes were cleared from the PCM memory, the EVAP monitor will NOT be ready.

The requirements for running the EVAP monitor vary depending on the year, make and model of your vehicle. Generally speaking, the fuel tank must be 1/4 to 3/4 full because a near empty tank or a full tank can affect the accuracy of the EVAP self-test. The ambient outside temperature must not be too hot (above 95 degrees) to too cold (below 30 degrees) because this affects fuel volatility and the amount of vapor inside the tank. The vehicle must also have sit overnight or for 8 hours or more without being driven. On some vehicles, the EVAP monitor runs when the vehicle has been cruising on the highway at light throttle at a speed of 45 to 65 mph for at least 10 minutes or more. All of the components in the EVAP control system must also be functioning normally. The presence of any EVAP-related fault codes will prevent the EVAP monitor from running.

Thanks!
After replacing the solenoid and gas cap, I don't have any codes as of yet.

I had no idea that this drive cycle was so involved or complex.
All computerized any more...

Could someone point me to or send a picture of how the charcoal canister is attached to the frame? I see two bolts on one end (towards the front of the Tahoe) and before I go snapping rusted bolts I want to make sure I'm not trying to remove something that I do not have to..

Thanks
