anyone use these in a leveled application? i have a set on my 2500hd, but they specifiy for leveld trucks, for the 1500/suv they say lifted, not leveled, and say it may require limiting straps, just wondering if anyone else has tried them?

before i spend 500$ on paper weights.

thanks
Mike

i called cognito, they said it would be good to go, just have to keep an eye on down travel, if the control arm makes contact with the metal frame stop, you will need limiter straps if that is the case, just fyi for anyone else trying to use these

Would these help alleviate this:

I dont know for sure.

but id say no, cause they said thats what you have to be carefull of, the control arm hitting that stop, if it were me, i would cut that thing off, weld a gusset to it and get some limiter straps to keep it from down traveling too far,

This guy here ☝️ is confused on the issue. That is the point of new UCAs cause there made to avoid hitting that droop stop. Order a set of new arms and ride better. You might want to do straps to prevent over extension of cv and tie rods.

maybe? from what i got from the cognito guy, the cognito arms will still hit like the stock arms, they just help with the ball joint angle, as well as bolt in vs press in

http://www.cognitomotorsports.com/media/pdfs/7011.pdf

theres a link to the instructions for the arms

8. Do not rely on the factory frame perch to limit down travel. You must also install a limit strap kit available from Cognito to limit the down travel to protect the upper control arm from damage against the frame perch.

Limiting strap kit is necessary to prevent upper control arm damage when using this upper control arm kit to maximize suspension travel. This will prevent arm to droop stop damage.

those are quoted from the instructions, maybe im not understanding it? not trying to give false info,

Well it rides fine so I don't think that it is resting on the stops, but it is really close. Other than my wonky angles, am I ok as long as the UCA isn't resting on the stop under load? I really don't wanna put a 6" kit on it, wanted to keep it somewhat reversible if possible. (No frame hacking)

Yes cognito recommends a travel strap cause the factory arms are square so they are designed to contact the droop stop. Majority of lift style UCAs are tubular and not designed to contact droop stop. However 99% of lift UCAs don't ever contact the droop stop. The design puts a big curve in that side to gain lots of clearance when cranking keys. Plus side of new UCAs is the cranked position of the ball joint is corrected to a safe angle for longevity

I'm sure it rides fine but you are hitting that stop all the time just don't know it. Try going over a speed bump at 2-4 mph and you will hear a big bang. That is the arms hitting stops. Order a set of RC arms for $250 and you will be much better off. Also wouldn't cut stops unless really needed.
