Somewhere in these threads a 45 cal Brass without primer installed was cited as a "perfect"fit restrictor.

Is there a quick DIU for this?

My aftermarket radiator ( Champion) also cools too well on cool mornings, and causes the same dash error.

I have a zillion .45 brass laying around, and was wondering how it gets installed.

Thanks, I just took a break from working, and did the Colt .45 mod but only had a 1/8" drill bit laying around, so I went with that. If it still causes issues I'll make another restrictor with a 3/32" hole.

My symptoms were seen for the 1st time yesterday:

Coolant level is full, but morning temp was 58*F, and after driving for 40 mins at 50mph, the coolant temp (per Torque app) wouldn't go over 147*F, and the dash temp gauge sat at zero.

In the afternoon the ambient temp was 84*F, and once the coolant temp passed 160*F (and kept rising to ~200) the "engine hot" alert/message turned off, and the dash temp gauge came online.

It appears in your pics that you have something inside that hose besides a 45 cal shell case already.
Also- What hand cleaner do you use?

You're seeing the open end of the brass facing out in the pic. It's the same .45ACP brass in all the pics.

I wash my hands with the tears of NY Jets fans.

I think you'll be just fine with 1/8". Smart move to start with an expended shell casing instead of a live one :p

Was able to go out for a drive this morning, with the temp around 65*, and coolant system temps seem to be doing fine now.

All praise John Moses Browning.

I know this was a thread for the Cold Case radiator, but mine ( https://bigdogauto.com/i-31642969-t...iator-for-1999-2011-chevy-pick-up-cc2370.html ) is also an oversized three-row unit that didn't come with a reducer in the overflow tank nipple.

It was, however, very much a drop-in unit. I only had to trim 1/2" or so off the top and bottom of the plastic fan shroud so that would bolt in.

What are you using to get that display?

It the Torque Pro app running on my phone. I just took a screenshot of my phone's screen after pulling into my driveway after a 45 minute drive this morning.

It connects via Bluetooth to an old ELM327 dongle that plugs into the OBDII port. It's the second one I've owned... bought #1 in 2014, it died after three years, but I've had the #2 running strong since 2017.
