Damn narco....I would have sold you my bypass for half that because apparently my install guy doesn't need it. He knows how to wire it up w/out the bypass. He said that's just a lazy way to do it and more money for DEI.

Getting mine done tonight. Good timing, too. We've got a cold/snow storm coming. Blizzard warning for tonight and tomorrow morning....good times in AWD. :D

i know but i needed it done now. so far it works fine. problem: check engine light is on. he told me that sometimes happens until the truck recognizes the system. hmm? i trust this installer...very straight up guy. only big concern is not w/ the check engine light on the truck is in overdrive right from the beginning. i can manually run it through 1st, 2nd, 3rd but if i put it in D its turning RPMS but barely moves. when im doing 50 or 60 and floor it the tranny doesnt downshift.

think this is just a coincidence or the install had something to do with it?

Oh wow. I can't even see how the starter could cause the tranny issues, unless it's just completely wreaking havoc on the computer. I can buy the check engine light thing for a few starts/restarts, but after that if it doesn't recognize it and the check engine light stays on I'd definitely get it diagnosed. See if it's throwing any codes and what they are.

I sincerely hope the starter is causing the transmission issues, I just have a hard time connecting them, though. Check your fluid....low tranny fluid can make them do really weird things.

On another note, my install just got postponed to Monday night because my installer's boss took in a couple of late installs and he's going to be at the shop late. Sooo...that's the price of using a friend and his garage. I'm at the whim of his schedule....lol.

Hard to argue with the timing.

Do you have any Autozone's, or Schuck's O'reilly's or whatever around there that can check your codes and tell you why the check engine light is on? It's gotta be pulling an error somewhere....that'd at least give you an idea if they are connected.

Not sure....we don't actually have any around here that do that, but I've read other posts where they are free.

That really sucks, The way electronics are tied into each other any more, you can't tell what caused it, Did you check all your fuses to make sure the installer didnt arc something during the install, I'm no mechanic, just throwin info out from experience in the past. AUto Zone and Advance will read codes for free but they are vague. I think sears does it also. I have a diablo sport tuner and it reads and clears my codes.
