At risk of adding a fluffer post: Thank you for that. Underrated, under-practiced bit there. Just *******.... Don't pull an answer out of your ass because you feel the need to give *something* then and there. Hell, even your doctor does it. You go to the office, nurse takes down your info, then there's a wait period between when the nurse leaves, and you're seen by the physician. Aside from getting paperwork going, you know what they're doing? They're brushing up on their notes based on the info you've provided. That's why if you come in with something wonky, you have to wait a few mins longer. Cause the doc is cross checking everything before they walk in the door.
You couldn't be more right dude! Society has gotten to the point where people want instant gratification and answers, and for some reason people are afraid of admitting they don't know the answer off the top of their head. There's nothing wrong with not knowing and needing to research the answer.

If it were me, I'd get the VIN number, call a local GM dealer, and ask for the water pump and thermostat part numbers associated with that VIN number. Then, I'd go looking for the replacement parts, knowing that I could cross-reference part numbers for any 3rd party parts, if I did not want to go with AcDelco for any reason.

Why not order the water pump that includes the thermostat & housing? RA sells the Gates pump that way....
