The console extension harness is most certainly removable, its not very long, and there's not much to it. I don't see that the console extension harness plugging in to anything but the head unit. I don't see a place on the diagram where it plugs into the dash harness. Maybe I'm just not seeing it. If it does, do you know where this happens or have a diagram showing where on the dash harness it plugs in? It's listed as a separate part from the dash harness.

From a systems standpoint, I can't of any reason why on a non-lux bose amp it NEEDS to plug in to anything but the head unit. Again, maybe i'm missing something, but if so, someone please set me straight with some proof.

Ok, that picture in post number 10, of the diagram, is NOT from a 2003, even though it says it is. It looks like in that model, you can disconnect the harness that goes to the console. I am looking at the schematic for the actual 03+ and it is part of the dash harness and is not something you can remove.

That picture you see is the old dash, you can tell it's the old radio in the drawing, and it shows the Denali/Esclade console from 01/02 that had the speakers built into the sides of it. They were only in there those two years, 03+ was replaced with the subwoofer.

Nope, still from 01/02 Denali, 02 Escalade. I have the appropriate diagram in front of me, it's just showing that the extension part that runs the the dash is not removable.

If you have a console, you can disconnect it from the dash extension. It's just like in that picture you just uploaded. It's a huge connector (C306) under the console.

That's what I said back in post #15 - not the 03-06 console being shown in the diagram. The diagram shown in post #22 is for the lux console/amp. I don't believe the wiring harness is the same for the non-lux, but I could be wrong. Also what's being shown in this diagram as far as the plug goes, doesn't look like either non-lux console wiring harness that I've had (though I can only see a part of it in this diagram).

Can you scan your diagram Keith? And can you confirm that what you are looking at is NON-LUX Bose console wiring and dash harness?

Sorry, I must've misread. Yes, that is for the Luxury console, but that was for the old console, 01/02 Esc/Denali. No, the wiring harnesses are different between Lux and NonLux.

What's being shown in that diagram is the wiring for the rear seat audio/ac controls.

I can take some screen shots and post them. Can you tell me again exactly what it is you're going for here? This is what I think you want...

You have a non-bose interior that came with no console, it's an 2003, you want to add the console and have the bose amplifier working and powering your speakers? Basically, a full functioning console?

Here's something else I don't understand:

In a basic stereo system you have a a head unit that sends a signal to the speakers. When an amp enters the picture, the head unit sends the signal to the amp which then boosts that signal and sends it to the speakers. As I understand it, this is all the "dummy" non-lux Blose system does. As I understand it, the Y91 or Y92 optioned Lux systems are different. They require a Class II data interface (light blue wire) in order to operate.

So, thinking outside the GM wiring diagram box, why does the dummy non-lux Blose system need to feed into the dash harness at all? Nothing needs to go back to the BCM. All I can figure, if all wiring diagrams for 03-06 models (be they lux or non-lux) connect the console to the vehicle through the dash harness, then the only reason they are doing this is for vehicle build convenience (one harness for everyone) and on the non-lux models, a good portion of that harness is not being used. I caveat all this with, "This is my imperfect understanding."

I'm thinking the solution here, given the fact that the non-lux Blose system isn't really worth two *****, that instead of banging my head against the wall and trying to get this plugged in factory-style, maybe I should just plug one of these in http://www.pac-audio.com/productDetails.aspx?ProductId=365&CategoryID=28, stuff a $60 amp under the console, and call it a day. It just bugs me that this non-lux install should be a matter of simply plugging a few wires together, not electrical engineering.

I can tell you one thing, when I do my next GMT-800 project, I'm specifically looking for an LS model with no Blose in it, and I will not be trying to use any Blose parts I get free. I'll gut that console and stick a JL Stealthbox in there.

Just about. It's a 2005. You got everything else right. For what its worth, I think jpaeltz is still attempting the same thing.

Yes, you understand the way the two systems operate correctly. The reason it connects to the dash is for the "one size almost fits everyone" scenario. There is a huge connector (C306) under the console that connects to the dash. It has all the power, grounding etc for the console outlets as well as power, ground and wiring to connect the AMP to the radio. The Lux harness just has more wires, for the CD changer, heated rear seats, etc.

There is a specific dash harness for each model. Tahoe/Denali/Escalade etc are all different. The differences aren't huge, but subtle enough to make things like the console not plug & play.

It IS possbile, YES, to add the Bose to your car. It will just have to be custom done. It will not be plug & play and will be a hassle. The only hassle being all the wiring. But you COULD make it work.

My sister has a 2004 Z71 Tahoe and it has Bose. I changed out her stock radio and added the Lux-Navigation, Lux-Amp & Denali console to it. It was a good deal of work, but I did it and it works perfectly.

Here is a pic, the only one I could find throughout numerous different trucks of different years that is close to what you're looking for. It's from a 2004 Sierra Denali, but they are all relatively close. Differences being pins moved around, or option codes etc.

Nice work. What can you tell me about the pinouts? Do you have any wiring diagrams of the plugs? Maybe if I can identify the wires I can pull something together.

As far as I can tell the harness in question is shown but not identified here. Is there no diagram showing the wiring from the reverse side?

I said screw it to the sub and amp and just rigged the power outlets to the existing harness. I still want to add some bass to the ride but don't want to tear up the dash wiring and don't want to buy a $500 stealthbox for an aftermarket sub. I've heard the bose's bass before and its all I need. I know how to hookup a sub and amp, think we can get id on all of the different wires and just wire it up like an aftermarket set up?

Example: Find the power, ground, remote, input, output, etc.

Yes I think so. Keith/KSES123 and I talked about this for 2 hours last night on the phone. He provided some good data and diagrams that might make this possible. Let me look into it and I will get back to you on it. If I don't post to this thread or PM you by next Friday, bug me about it.
