Ok just a question here as I'm trying to learn. If the tube diameter is too large for the engine, then why would Magnaflow make and market the product?? As I stated before I had the same kit, as well as a CAI, on a 2009 Tahoe 5.3L and had no problems.

I have talked with Magnaflow about the problem. They have never had any complaints about this kind of situations with this vehicle. I even asked if there was a kit more suited for the engine and vehicle. They assured me I had the right kit for the application. But they were very helpful in trying to determine the problem. Of coarse they say its not related to exhaust. I also double checked to make sure their muffler was non-directional(thinking maybe it was installed backwards).

These are just my opinions from a standpoint of designing piping systems for vapor extraction and pressurized air applications. The increase in piping may help out at high rpm (higher flows), but will not at lower rpm (apparant loss of torque at low rpms). IMO it s more of an effect on exhaust scavenging, but there are a lot of variables to consider.

Search the web for "[insert exhaust brand] and loss of performance"...

However your case sounds more severe then the usual loss on the low end. Hopefully you find out what is causing it and it is a relatively cheap fix or mod. Good luck and keep us posted. I also recommend Blackbear

Ok, so the factory exhaust is going back on; hopefully by the end of the week. The tune has been "put on hold" for know. Once the exhaust is installed, will there be immediate results or will it require some driving time to get things worked out??

Thanks again for all the insight and helpful tips. As well as a wealth of knowledge I'm picking up about these vehicles. Will keep you all posted.

Just wanted to chime in and state that two of my first mods were a CAI and a Magnaflow catback (16672). After install there were absolutely no issues and if anything, throttle response was slightly improved. My guess is that there is more to your issues than meets the eye... but of course I could be wrong. Hope you get it figured out ASAP.

My guess is that you will know right away if that was the culprit. This is my first go round with the 5.3, but I do know that other trucks sometimes need a "relearn" for things to work themselves out. Sometimes it's an ECU reset, sometimes it will happen over a few miles(500 or so).

As for the exhaust, I understand everyone's posts about exhaust piping. You can post until your blue in the face that backpressure is a myth, but I still don't agree with it. Maybe for some engines, but not all. The 5.6 in the Titan is very very sensitive to back pressure and exhaust piping and it has been proven on the dyno and at the track. That's not to say that the proper accompanying mods wouldn't make it work, but with a relatively stock truck, exhaust piping too large will definitely play a part in performance, most notably your low end off the line grunt, which is what the 5.3 lacks tremendously from the factory.

Good luck and continue to keep us updated. What you learn we learn. Especially with a 2013 model....

So the Magnaflow exhaust was removed and replaced with the stock exhaust system. After driving a few hundred miles I can definitely say that the exhaust was the problem. Everything seems to be back to normal at this point. Vehicle has the power it did when it was stock and drive-ability is back to stock levels.

Thanks again for all the support and advice.

Did you try to reset the computer by disconnecting the battery for 10 minutes? This allows it to relearn everything including transmission shift points. Usually recommended when adding anything performance related.

Yes, that was done after the Airaid Jr was installed. And then again when the Magnaflow was added. Except we disconnected the battery and let it set for approximately 45 minutes each time.
