Crazy engine light

There something fishy going on with my battery connection .. there clean and tight but today it acted like a poor connection. Back to the reduce engine speed on DIC . I tightened bit more and straighted out after another start cycle .You know my old 1999 Tahoe I had to cut away plastic on the cables connection for it to make good connection.. I might be dealing with same deal. It's being a pain ..Wont stop raining tomorrow night I look in to the hard plastic issues and it might be how fleet farm batteries made .

Make sure to check the condition of all your ground cables and connections as well.

If you're cutting back insulation from your battery cables to make a good connection, I would suggest that it's time for whole new sealed cables. They could be corroded down the line, far from the ends, and that could be impacting the amp carrying capability and the voltage.

Ground do I just worry about where ground is hooked on or is there other grounds . Engine to frame etc ? It's still raining here [emoji849]

I was just thinking the red and black ends I got new bolts for battery. The plastic is pretty hard .

Anywhere on those cables you could have unseen corrosion that is effecting the flow of electrical causing too much resistance.

The grounds need to be clean and tight as well. Take them apart and inspect and clean and tighten as needed.

Where should the voltage hang out ? I'm still figuring out issues .. sometimes it's 15 .5 volts.
And if I use the remote start it goes in to the reduce engine speed issue .. and only way to turn engine off was remote start again to shut it off . Then used the keey to start it all was fine again .. crazy going look in to the grounds next . a77804c8b8fdf36124dfc3d622191867.jpg

Depends on the year if you have the voltage clamp on the negative cable then your truck has the variable voltage regulator and you will see voltage all over the place depending on battery temperature and what you have turned on/off, so seeing it move around is normal.
**reduced engine power if that problem keeps coming back no matter what you do then it could be the throttle body acting up, but I would be sure to get the power issue straightened out before proceeding to that.

Yes it has that box on the negative cable . It's a 2006 GMC Yukon XL SLT plus package some places it's called option 2 . But ya voltage meter from 14 to 15.5 volt seems all over the place is right . How does the variable charging work is it built in to the alternator it's 160 amp one ?
On that throttle fly by wire module can it get moisture in it ? Because as seems when we gets cold 8 f then warms up to 25 f temp swing it seems like it acts up . In Minnesota we have some serious outside tempture swings .
