Like the title says.
Idle is fine and no noticeable vacuum leak.
Sometimes will engage after a bit, without turning off engine.
Fuse is good.
Can hear a click with AM radio on when I press Acc/On/Off
Last time it happened at night the brakes were not lit.

I’m starting to think it might be the stalk itself, any other ideas?

A few years back my cruise control would intermittently stop working. I resolved the issue by picking up another cruise control motor/actuator (the fire wall mounted unit) at the pull a part. Been working every time since then. But... my brake lights were working fine. You may want to check your brake light switch attached to the brake pedal. This guy on the video below gives you a pretty good run down on testing.

Mine does it too. It’s my pedal switch. If I piddle with the brake on the highway I can get the cruise to work. My lights work fine though

I had the same issue. The switch was worn and would flicker. Cruise is set to disengage when ANY signal gets to it. It would flicker inside and you wouldn't see the brake lights light up. Eventually, it began to light the brake lights up and drain the battery. I replaced the switch under the dash and ALL the issues went away. It's tight and you almost need to be a 5 legged monkey to get to it under there. Putting the new one in wasn't too bad but getting the old one out got so problematic I finally broke it apart to get it out.

Thanks for the link, I like that guy. I saw another of his videos on the wonderful coolant temp sensor system.
I'll run the checklist of the wife ever gives me my Tahoe back!
