Custom Sub-woofer alternative

I want to add a subwoofer to my 2007 Tahoe but I think $500.00 for a custom enclosure from Mtx or JL audio is just to expensive for me, has anybody tried the enclosure for sale on Ebay, it looks very similar to the MTX

That ebay one doesnt look bad for the price. Are you set on putting the sub in the center console? I have a box from caraudiofactory.com and it just goes in the back behind the third row on one side, sounds decent and I can just take it out when needed for cargo space, but still large enough for decent sound from my single 12".

It does look like a good setup to save space, but you are a little limited on sub choices with it being shallow mount. A single 8 or 10 would still sound good anyway, much better than stock. Heres the one I have, if you look at their other boxes for the tahoe the larger one that fits 2 subs shows where it goes, literally right behind the 3rd row and sits on the lip in the back.

Ive bought 3 boxes from them over the years now, never had a problem.

Sub in the rear is the way to go. I put one between the center row captains and it was just too goofy and shook everything. A nice sealed small enclosure. That single one above looks well built. You put a sundown 10" in there and it's gonna be loud. A simple kicker comp would also give you a notch down decent bass. I have a 8 sided sealed tube like box with a kicker comp in the rear and it's nice.

I have a cvr behind my 3rd row in kickers generic prefab box and it fits so perfect...I mean so perfect... Cant even fit my fingers between the hatch an the box but it has plenty room to flex and it sounds sooooo good on 1,000 watts with the factory head unit. It won't slide either because it fits PERFECTLY in the middle between the handles that you pull the 3rd row out with. And best of all, I think I paid $250 for the sub and box brand new...
Might should add, it has gotten me pulled over 3 times for noise violation in the past 6 months.....
