Well I just figured out what I was doing wrong. Should had paid closer attention to the connections, got it to work for 4s.

The iPhone 5, i heard that there isn't a "true" AppRadio mode but I forgot where I got this from. It was from a thread somewhere else.

Also on Pioneer's Website:
To complete compatibility between AppRadio Mode and the iPhone® 5, a firmware update from Pioneer is required (available Spring 2013 at no charge) as well as the purchase of the following Apple® accessories

Guess iPhone 5 users have to wait to "control" their phone using the unit.

I figured it out for the iPhone and was able to get it to work.

Turn off the headunit by selecting off on the Home screen. Make sure bluetooth is off on your phone. On the headunit go to settings and click on AppMode Connectivity. Change the setting here to Digital and your Appmode should work now. My headunit was originally set to Other. Let me know if you have any questions on it

Same size?

Hi everybody, I recently purchased the new Pioneer AVH-X8500bhs unit for my Avalanche. I got the PAC OS-4 and Axxess Steering Wheel Control to set up the unit for the truck. I got the wiring done and tested the unit but haven't installed it yet due to one problem, space. I forgot where I have heard or read about this before, and sorry if I didn't do a thorough search, but I recall reading about having to cut out a portion behind the headunit so that it can have some wiggle room. I don't have a pic of the area behind the radio since I thought I shouldn't have a problem finding something online and I bet after I post this I will find it with my luck. I was wondering those that have installed aftermarket units, what part did you cut off? And what did you use to cut it with? I was thinking that the bar ontop of the silver box (if you know what I am talking about, I think it may be the XM tuner box) should be cut off. Thanks.

Well I already found something mentioning it, but would still like to know which parts to save me some trial and error time. More or less I would like to know what you use to cut it with. I was thinking dremel but how did you deal with the shavings going into the void?

Do you know if the 2007 Tahoe has the same size back? I am buying the radio and want to know if I need to cut to install.
